Bruno Fernandes puts on a masterclass performance in record win for Portugal

As stated by the club’s official website, Portugal’s midfielder Bruno Fernandes put on a remarkable performance in their Euro 2024 qualifier against Luxembourg, where his side secured a dominant 9-0 victory.

The Manchester United midfielder had previously scored the only goal in Portugal’s 1-0 away win against Slovakia, maintaining his impressive form. He carried that momentum into the Luxembourg match, delivering another strong performance.

Roberto Martinez’s team were heavily favoured to win against the lesser-ranked European opponent, and they made a strong statement by securing a significant victory on their home turf.

Fernandes emerged as the standout player of the match, contributing three assists in addition to scoring a goal. As the captain of  United, Fernandes displayed exceptional skills at the Estadio Algarve, delivering seven crucial passes from his 84 touches on the ball.

Furthermore, the playmaker successfully completed six crosses and excelled in seven duels and four tackles.

Despite recently turning 29, Fernandes has remained a key figure for both his club and national team over the last five years, showing no signs of slowing down.

Man United supporters are eager for the midfield maestro to replicate his outstanding national team form when he returns to club duty. The team is determined to ascend the Premier League standings following the break.

United have struggled with missed scoring opportunities in the early part of the new season, and their defensive performance has raised concerns.  This weekend, they face a challenging home match against Brighton & Hove Albion.
